We created a special item to honor a meaningful Haitian January tradition: Soup Joumou.
Haiti’s national dish, now recognized by UNESCO as protected cultural heritage, is traditionally enjoyed on January 1st as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and new beginnings. For a limited time, that tradition is being reimagined with the Soup Joumou Empanada created by our co-founder and chef, Ioan Delice, exclusively for Titi’s Empanadas.
The empanada filling features the soup’s usual suspects: braised beef, seasonal squash, slow-cooked root vegetables, and warm spices. For an extra burst of flavor, the savory pastry is finished with a generous serving of Pikliz Please, bringing balance and depth to every bite.
This collaboration felt especially intentional, celebrating seasonal produce and the shared history between Haiti and Venezuela.
The Soup Joumou Empanada will be available at both Titi’s Empanadas locations during the week of January 19, while supplies last. We hope you’ll stop by, taste the story, and mark the month of January through this shared tradition.
