Pikliz Please is at the Museum!

On Thursday, February 19, Pikliz Please will be celebrating Caribbean joy under the Blue Whale at the American Museum of Natural History — and we’re doing it as part of #BlackClimateWeek.

At first glance, Carnival and climate might seem like separate conversations. But from Barbados to Trinidad to Haiti, Caribbean history is rooted in adaptation — rebuilding after storms, creating abundance in small spaces, and protecting land and water because survival depends on it.

Carnival itself is an expression of resistance and renewal. It is joy in the face of hardship. It is culture that refuses to disappear.

That spirit is exactly why aligning with #BlackClimateWeek feels natural to us.

We are a Haitian-founded condiment brand based in New York. But we are also part of a larger ecosystem.  Whenever possible, we source cabbage and produce from New York farmers. That choice is intentional.

Supporting local agriculture:

  • Strengthens regional food systems
  • Reduces transportation miles
  • Keeps dollars circulating in our communities
  • Builds resilience against supply chain disruptions

Climate change is not abstract. It affects growing seasons. It affects cost. It affects access. And it disproportionately impacts Black and Caribbean communities.

At the Museum, you’ll taste curried patties, coco bread, doubles, and more. You’ll see Mas dancers and installations that celebrate Caribbean pride. You’ll experience music, movement, and culture at full volume.  And at the same time, the evening will hold space for a conversation about how rising seas, intensifying heat, and extreme weather are reshaping life across Caribbean islands and here in New York City.

That duality matters.

We’re honored to be a selected vendor for this celebration of Caribbean culture, resistance, and joy. We will have a limited number of jars available for purchase onsite, and we expect to sell out.

If you’re attending, we highly recommend placing an order online in advance and selecting event pick-up to guarantee your jar. We’ll have it ready for you.
